Every year, Ellen Datlow releases a full list of recommended stories that she read for consideration for her annual volume of Best Horror of the Year. The list is always a great place to look if you want to get a good feel for what’s going on, with respect to short fiction, in the horror genre. I’m proud to say that this year I have four stories on her list, a first for me:
“A Lie You Give, and Thus I Take” from Lightspeed Magazine.
“This Is the Way I Die” from Nightmare Magazine.
“U is for Umbrella” from A is for Apocalypse, edited by Rhonda Parrish.
“Broken Beneath the Paperweight of Your Ghosts” from Shock Totem.
(Note: The last is listed as by Damien Walters Grintalis. I suspect the review copy had the wrong byline, as I’ve been publishing as DAW since 2013.)
